Decoupling

Decoupling

For a safe dismantling and demolition, the entire installation must be disconnected from its surrounding installations. During the decoupling activities, it’s important that the owner’s technicians are involved, because of their detailed knowledge of the installations. All supply of electricity, gas, water, steam, cooling liquids, etc. must be disconnected and physically separated in such a way that a visual inspection clearly shows that the entire installation is disconnected. For Asset Recovery, this aspect is a key security element in the further execution of the project.

Special attention is required for underground supplies (cables and pipes). Especially on old industrial sites, the plans of the underground infrastructure hardly reflect the “as-build” situation. In these cases, it is necessary to get certainty about the full underground decoupling by digging safety slots and applying ground suction techniques.
