Controlled explosive demolition of the cooling tower and 2 chimneys in Mol

Asset Recovery demolished a 75 m high cooling tower and two 125 m high chimneys of a former coal power plant in Mol (Belgium) with controlled explosions and disappeared from the landscape forever.

The demolition works were successfully prepared and executed. During the preparatory work, large quantities of asbestos-containing materials were removed and special measures were taken to protect an adjacent natural gas pipeline.

Paul Rotthier, Mayor of Mol, had the honor of pushing the button, causing the explosions to drop the cooling tower and the chimneys exactly as planned. About 4000 spectators followed the explosions from a safe distance.
